Jat Airways' frequent flyer programme will be integrated into Etihad Airways' own loyalty programme after it is renamed Air Serbia next month.
From October 28, the Serbian national carrier's Extra Flight Club will become part of Etihad Guest, subject to regulatory approval (see news, August 1).
The move will coincide with Etihad Airways acquiring a 49 per cent stake in Jat Airways, which will be renamed Air Serbia at that time. The Abu Dhabi-based airline has also been awarded a five-year management contract for Air Serbia.
Etihad Guest members can automatically earn and redeem Etihad Guest Miles across the worldwide partner network.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways' chief commercial officer, said: "This is just one of many exciting benefits that Air Serbia passengers will receive as the airline is rebranded from Jat Airways, enabling them to earn Etihad Guest miles across the Etihad Airways and Air Serbia network."
Dane Kondic, CEO of Air Serbia, added: "The integration of the Extra Flight Club into Etihad Guest is a key milestone in the development of Air Serbia because Etihad Guest is renowned across the world as the best-in-class and this is something that has never been on offer before."
Among the benefits available to Etihad Guest members are immediate rewards, no blackout periods and Pointspay, which allows members to convert their miles to cash to spend at thirty million outlets worldwide.
The rebranding/renaming of Jat Airways to Air Serbia will see the tail fins feature the Serbian coat of arms and the country's state colours on both sides.
The new livery was designed by a team in Serbia and the UAE and provides a new look and feel for the national airline.
