Air Nigeria relaunches Gatwick route

17 May 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Air Nigeria has launched a daily service between Lagos and London Gatwick, using A330-200 aircraft configured for 295 passengers.

As originally reported by Business Traveller last month (see online news April 17), the former Virgin Nigeria is returning to London for the first time since 2009.

Flights depart Gatwick at 0950, arriving into Lagos at 1750, with the return leg leaving the Nigerian city at 2350, landing back into London at 0550 the following day.

Commenting on the new route David Amurun, Air Nigeria’s Country Manager for the UK said:

“Air Nigeria’s return to its long hub operations with a London-Lagos route is exciting news for passengers. After a successful turn-around of the airline over the last two years, the airline is now well positioned to compete favourably on the international market. Gatwick Airport has excellent links into London and the South East making it easily accessible for business and leisure travellers.”

Rival Nigerian carrier Arik Air offers daily flights between London Heathrow Terminal 4 and Lagos, while British Airways flies daily from Heathrow Terminal 5, and Virgin Atlantic from Terminal 3.
