Air New Zealand has unveiled a revamp of its logo and tailfins, which will be introduced across the fleet from next year.
The carrier is adopting a new, modernised lettering style for the Air New Zealand name, and is also adapting its tailfins from the current blue and green tones to an all-black colouring.
Announcing the changes CEO Rob Fyfe (who is stepping down at the end of 2012) said that “Our iconic symbol, the Koru, will remain but it will be set within our national colour rather than the blue and green tones on our tails today”.
"Black has resonated well with our customers and staff who identify with it as the colour of New Zealand and a natural choice for our national airline,” said Fyfe. “It inspires pride, is part of our Kiwi identity and a symbol of Kiwi success on the world stage.”
Last week ANZ announced a partnership with forthcoming film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, including the creation of a Hobbit-inspired in-flight safety video (see online news July 13). The carrier described itself as "the official airline of Middle-earth".
