Air Malta unveils new livery

1 Aug 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Air Malta has unveiled its new livery and brand identity as part of the carrier’s restructuring plans.

The new branding keeps the iconic Maltese cross on the airline’s tailfin, combining it with bold red, blue, yellow, orange and green colours, and the slogan “The airline of the Maltese Islands” emblazoned across the side of the aircraft.

A release said that the new brand identity “reflects the uniqueness of the Maltese islands with their proud heritage, colours, culture, symbols, hospitality and language”.

Air Malta unveiled the new branding on social media channels including its Facebook and You Tube pages – at present the carrier’s website still bears the previous branding, with Air Malta  saying that “the changes in visual identity and new services will be progressively rolled out over the coming months”.

The future of Air Malta has been the subject of discussion on our forum in recent months, with the carrier going through a period of restructuring under CEO Peter Davies – to join in the debate click here.

In June the European Commission approved an injection of €130 million in state aid for the carrier, stating that “the restructuring plan adequately addresses the financial problems of Air Malta”.
