Air India gears up for Dreamliner delivery

12 Mar 2012 by BusinessTraveller

A Boeing Dreamliner aircraft painted in Air India livery has touched down at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport, ahead of the delivery of the carrier's first B787.

The aircraft will be on static display at the airport before moving to Hyderabad for India Aviation 2012 on March 14. Air India has yet to unveil the interiors of its Dreamliner aircraft, although Boeing says the it has been fitted with "an inviting passenger interior featuring full business and economy-class cabins".

According to The Economic Times Air India is expected to take delivery of its first Dreamliner aircraft in May, following the receipt of operational and technical certifications from the US Federal Aviation Administration.

In January Business Traveller revealed Air India will configure its B787 aircraft with 256 seats in a two-class configuration, according to documents inviting offers for the sale and leaseback of the carrier's first seven Dreamliners (see online news January 9).
