Air France unveils four-class A380 layout

Air France has released a graphic showing the layout of its new four-class A380 with premium economy seating, to be used on the Montreal and Washington DC routes later this year.

Two brand new Airbus superjumbos will serve Montreal and Washington DC from April 22 and June 6 respectively (see online news October 11 and December 1). Unlike the current three-class A380s, the new four-class layout will see 69 Voyageur (economy) seats on the upper deck removed to make way for 38 Premium Voyageur (premium economy) seats.

Air France appears to be emulating Qantas by putting premium economy seating on the upper deck of its A380s. However, unlike Qantas, Air France is retaining 46 economy seats at the very back of the upper deck.

It is likely that these economy seats on the upper deck will be blocked off and reserved for members of its Flying Blue frequent flyer programme.

The lower deck layout will remain the same as on the three-class version, with 343 economy seats and nine Premier (first) class seats in the nose.
