Aer Arann to cut intra-Ireland routes

Irish regional carrier Aer Arann will stop serving routes from Dublin to Sligo, Knock and Galway in July, when government subsidies cease.
These routes are currently covered by Public Service Obligation (PSO) subsidies, which will finish on July 21, and according to local media reports Aer Arann’s chairman Pádraig Ó Céidigh has said that the routes would no longer be “financially viable”.
Aer Arann applied for Examinership (a form of bankruptcy protection) last year (see online news September 8, 2010), but has recently launched new routes from both Waterford and Galway to London Southend airport (see online news February 1).
