Aer Arann, the fast-growing Irish airline has launched three new services this week bringing the total number of routes between Ireland and the UK to 23.

The new routes include a first for the airline and for Birmingham with a daily service (excluding Saturday) to Waterford. The other two routes are an expansion of services from Bristol and Manchester with new destinations Galway and Sligo respectively four days per week.

Aer Arann also announced its next destination would be Newcastle from Galway starting on June 25.

Although online check-in is currently only available on the Dublin-Cork-Dublin route its roll-out is imminent with Cardiff going live on Tuesday.

For business travellers, who travel light with hand luggage only, a clear bonus to checking-in online is the free seat allocation, and free online check-in, in contrast to Ryanair for instance, which charges £2 per ticket each way for online check-in. For those with checked baggage the limit is 20 kilos after which excess baggage is charged at Euros 7 (£4.50) per kilo.Fares on the new routes start from Euros 30 one-way including tax.

Aer Arran also flies to Lorient in north-west France from Waterford, Galway, Cork and Kerry. New services to Nantes from Bristol and Cardiff are to begin in June.
