American Airlines and TAM resume codeshare operation

12 Aug 2013 by GrahamSmith
American Airlines and TAM Airlines will resume their codeshare partnership from Wednesday. The two airlines ended their codeshare operation in November 2007 when TAM Airlines announced it would be joining the Star Alliance. But now that the Brazilian carrier is joining the Oneworld alliance, following its merger with LAN Airlines (see online news, March 7), the AA code will appear on 20 routes operated by TAM. TAM's JJ code on flights to be operated by American Airlines has yet to be confirmed, reports airlineroute.net. The airlines completed their merger under the LATAM group last summer (see online news, June 2012), with one of the conditions being the consolidation under one alliance. The group then confirmed its selection of Oneworld, with TAM due to join the BA-founded alliance in early 2014, and LAN subsidiary LAN Colombia joining as an affiliate member later this year. aa.com, tam.com, oneworld.com Graham Smith
