Kimpton is to open its first property outside of the Americas on May 22.

Located near Amsterdam Centraal station, the Kimpton De Witt has revealed photos of the refurbished hotel, which was formerly a Crowne Plaza, and is housed in a late 20th century building with architectural features from the Dutch Golden Age.

Its 274 rooms will feature 9 suites, including the property’s signature suite, the Penthouse De Witt, which is split over two storeys and has a 30 sqm roof terrace offering views of the city and canal house rooftops.

The hotel will also have a “house within a hotel” – a four-storey residence that was once the childhood home of Dutch playwright, P.C. Hooft, dating back to the 16th century. The “Little House” can be rented privately for groups, offering two king-sized rooms and a first floor living room.

Part of Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, the Wyers Bar and Restaurant next door to the hotel will offer American staples with Dutch influences, while inside, the House Bar will have an extensive menu of local gins and genevers (Dutch gin). An all-day coffee and beignet shop is also set to open.

Other facilities will include a gym, plus the offer for guests to use VanMoof bikes free of charge. In the lobby, there will be a complimentary all-day tea station, while a “social hour” will be hosted every evening.

Kimpton will be opening its second European property in Paris in 2020.
