Jet Blue has announced a daily Mint route between New York and San Diego starting August 15 2017.

Flight 189 will take off from New York JFK at 0900 and land in San Diego International Airport just before noon for a total travel time of about six hours. Flight 190 will take off from San Diego at 1310 and land in New York at 2140.

The route will be serviced on A321 aircraft offering 16 fully-reclining Mint class seats. When fully flat, Mint seats measure 80 inches (203cm) in length, the longest in the American market. Four of these seats are private suites with sliding doors.

Additional Mint features include a 15-inch flat screen with complimentary entertainment, a tapas-style in-flight menu and amenity kits by Hayward and Hopper.

The aircraft’s 143 economy seats are outfitted with ten-inch screens and have a pitch of 33 inches (84cm) in coach and 37 inches (94cm) in extra space.

Jet Blue launched Mint in 2014 as a business class option on its transcontinental routes. The carrier currently operates six Mint services, with another 12 scheduled to begin in the coming months and plans to bring that count up to 70 total daily flights.

“When Mint lands in San Diego Jet Blue will transform another market where customers have faced outdated and overpriced ‘business class’ choices for too long,” said Jet Blue Executive VP of Commercial and Planning Marty St. George. “We can’t wait to show even more of our customers in southern California the most comfortable way to fly from coast-to-coast.”

A second daily New York-San Diego Mint service and a daily Boston-San Diego Mint service are set to launch later in 2017.

Rates for Mint start at US$499 one-way.
