19 Oct 2016 by Evan Rogers

WOW Air has announced that it will increase its transatlantic services via its hub in Reykjavik, adding new routes to New York and Miami.

The Icelandic carrier will add a second daily service to its Reykjavik-London Gatwick route, starting March 27 next year. Flights from Reykjavik to Los Angeles and San Francisco will now fly daily, up from four and five times a week respectively.

The Reykjavik to New York/Newark service will begin November 6 alongside a thrice-weekly service to Miami, starting April 5 next year. The carrier also offers daily routes to Boston and Washington DC.

WOW Air founder and CEO of Skúli Mogensen said:

“Reception towards our new US routes this year has been overwhelmingly positive. It is due to this that we are able to put on even more flights and continue realising our aim of changing the landscape of low cost transatlantic travel. It’s a very exciting time with lots of growth plans in the pipeline – we look to the future and to expanding our network even further.”

Flights from London to Reykjavik are served on an A320 aircraft with 174 economy seats. Seat pitch is 30-31 inches (76-79cm) with rates starting at £49.99 one-way.

Flights from Reykjavik to Washington DC, Boston and New York are served in A321 aircraft, which has 139 economy seats, 27 XL seats with a pitch of 34 inches (86cm), and 31 XXL seats.

Long-haul flights from Reykjavik to Miami and California are served by an A330 aircraft which feature 82 economy seats, 236 XL seats, and 24 XXL seats.
