Sri Lanka’s national carrier, SriLankan Airlines will stop flight services to Paris and Frankfurt from Colombo, this year end.

From October 30, the airline will not fly between Colombo and Frankfurt, and from November 6, it will discontinue service on the Colombo-Paris route.

The decision has been taken after the Sri Lankan government has said that it will not inject any more money into the loss making airline.

SriLankan Airlines says, “The route network is being continuously evaluated in the context of changing market dynamics in order to maximise on sustainable routes, which bring in more contribution [to the airline’s earnings].”

The airline will continue to fly its A330-300 to London, which will be the gateway to Europe for passengers of SriLankan Airlines.

Daily direct flight UL503 takes off from Colombo at 1305 and lands in London at 2000.
