Two taxi e-hailing companies, Hailo and Mytaxi, have announced their merger. The combined company will be Europe’s largest taxi e-hailing company with 100,000 drivers across 50 cities in nine countries.

Hailo operates in the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Japan and Spain, while Mytaxi has drivers in Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden making the merge very favourable.

Together they will have 70 million passengers. Hailo’s CEO, Andrew Pinnington will lead the new company and they will operate under mytaxi brand. By mid 2017, all Hailo operations in the UK, Ireland and Spain will be rebranded.

Mytaxi’s founder will be on the board and play a key role in the integration and strategic development of the new endeavour. They will use mytaxi’s current head office in Hamburg, Germany.

The two companies still need approval from the European Regulatory Authorities; a decision will be reached in the next few weeks.
