AccorHotels will launch 80 hotels in India by 2020, and will open ten hotels in the country this year.

This year’s expansion will be focussed on its budget brand — ibis — with five of its new properties falling under it. These include the ibis Hyderabad Hitech City (opening in August) and ibis Styles Goa Calangute (opening in August).

The group will also open The Bheemli Resort Managed By AccorHotels in Visakhapatnam next month. It has also opened a Grand Mercure in South India’s tourist city Mysuru last month.

“In India, the metros are big areas for us. They are actually multiple markets in our view. Meanwhile, there are cities with significant economic activity to be present in where we open ibis or Mercure or small Novotel,” says Vivek Badrinath, deputy CEO of AccorHotels.

AccorHotels currently operates 38 hotels across 15 cities in India.
