ITC has restored a 130-year-old mansion in Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk and unveiled it last month as WelcomHeritage Haveli Dharampura.

WelcomHeritage is an initiative by the ITC hospitality group to restore and maintain heritage properties in the country.

“In addition to its historical roots, what makes ‘Haveli Dharampura’ an integral addition to the WelcomHeritage portfolio is the fact that this is the only heritage hotel of its kind in Delhi and the first to be established under a professional hospitality brand,” said ITC.

WelcomHeritage Haveli Dharampura is owned by member of parliament Vijay Goel and managed by ITC. It has seven rooms and six suites, each equipped with an LCD TV, tea/coffee maker, and minibar, amongst others. On the property are also the Royal Spa, Lakhori restaurant, Rooftop ‘Baradari’ restaurant, shish room, heritage library, and an art gallery.

Goes said “The havelis in Chandni Chowk are different from the ones you see in Rajasthan. These are less elaborate, mellow and minimalistic, but still it took us years to put it back in shape.

“And with so much of investment, it had to be financially viable on its own, to keep its glory for the years to come. That’s why we decided to convert it into a hotel. and invited bids from top hotel chains and finally we tied up with ITC.”
