Starwood’s Le Meridien brand is to return to Rome later this year, when the independent Visconti Palace Hotel joins the portfolio.
Located in the Prati district close to the Vatican, the 240-room hotel will undergo extensive renovation works before being rebranded by the end of 2016.
Facilities will include “spacious work spaces and subtle technology” in guest rooms, as well as a rooftop terrace, Latitude coffee bar, all-day dining restaurant, a fitness centre and bar.
The hotel will also feature the signature Le Meridien Hub – an “innovative reinterpretation of the traditional hotel lobby into an experiential space for creative and curious minded guests to converse, socialize and exchange”.
Le Meridien previously counted The Eden Hotel Rome within its portfolio, before the property became part of the Dorchester Collection (and is now closed for renovation until August 2016).
Starwood operates a total of 23 properties in Italy and four in Rome - The St. Regis Rome, The Westin Excelsior Rome, the Sheraton Roma Hotel & Conference Centre and the Sheraton Golf Parco de’Medici.
