IHG has announced its first Intercontinental hotel in Bulgaria, scheduled to open in 2017.
The existing Radisson Blu Grand Hotel Sofia will be rebranded as the Intercontinental Sofia once refurbishment works have been completed.
Under its new branding the hotel will feature 182 rooms, seven meetings rooms, five boardrooms, a lobby bar, spa facilities, a fitness centre and a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city’s main square and Nevski Cathedral.
It’s not clear if the property will close while the refurbishment takes place – Business Traveller has checked with IHG and will publish any response here.
IHG currently operates one hotel in the Bulgarian capital – the Holiday Inn Sofia.
Ryanair is set to launch a daily Stansted-Sofia route in May, its second route to Bulgaria (see news August 10, 2015).
