Hyatt is to open it second property in Jordan, as part of the forthcoming waterfront development in the coastal city of Aqaba.
The 268-room Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla is scheduled to open in 2018, and will join the existing Grand Hyatt Amman.
Features will include rooms starting from 43 sqm, five food and beverage outlets, around 1,000 sqm of meeting space including a 570 sqm ballroom, a swimming pool, fitness centre and spa facilities.
The new-build property will be situated with Marina Village, part of the Ayla waterfront development within Aqaba, which will also offer retail, dining and entertainment venues, as well as Jordan’s first 18-hole golf course, designed by Greg Norman.
Jordan is a mainly landlocked country, aside from a 16-mile stretch of coastline in the southwest corner where the seaport of Aqaba is located.
Hyatt is also due to open its first Grand Hyatt property in Abu Dhabi this spring, housed within a distinctive 47-storey glass tower in the Ras Al Akhadar district (see news November 2015).
