The Park Hotels, a brand of luxury five-star hotels in India, has taken ownership of its first international property - in Morocco.
The Sahara Palace, Marrakech is an 89-room hotel with 15 luxury suites and four exclusive riads (traditional Moroccan palaces with interior courtyards), a 3,800 sqm spa and a yoga temple.
Following the decision of compatriot Taj Hotels (see news, June 2011) to end its management agreement with the hotel in September last year, Park Hotels took control of the property as of September 2015.
The hotel, situated in the Palmeraie district of the city, has four restaurants, offering a variety of Moroccan, mediterranean and Indian cuisine, along with two bars.
Priya Paul, chairperson of The Park Hotels said: "We are delighted to be managing this beautiful palace hotel in Morocco. Along with the strong Moroccan accents throughout the property, there are a number of Indian design influences, making the hotel a great fit for us as hoteliers from the subcontinent."
The hotel will be the ninth Park Hotel, and the first outside of India.
Rates start at £375 per room per night.
