Etihad Airways will operate B787-9 aircraft to five new destinations next year - Dusseldorf, Perth, Shanghai, Istanbul and Johannesburg.
The carrier will launch its services to Dusseldorf on May 1, to Perth on June 1, to Shanghai and Istanbul on August 1, and to Johannesburg on November 1.
Etihad is taking delivery of five Dreamliners over a seven-month period from May. They will join its fleet of five B787-9s that it currently operates to Brisbane, Washington, Singapore and Zurich.
The new aircraft contain 299 seats, with 28 in business and 271 in economy.
James Hogan, Etihad president and CEO, said: "Beginning May next year, Etihad Airways' newly-delivered 787 Dreamliners will replace existing aircraft on our Dusseldorf, Perth, Shanghai, Istanbul and Johannesburg routes, among our most popular markets, giving guests an opportunity to fly on our next-generation aircraft."
Etihad recently opened a First and Business Class Lounge in Terminal 4 at New York's JFK airport (see news, December 3).
