22 Oct 2015 by GrahamSmith

Budget hotel group Motel One has announced three new properties for the UK, one in both Newcastle and Glasgow and a second in Manchester.

The German company will open Motel One Newcastle in early 2016, Motel One Manchester - Cross Street in autumn 2017 and Motel One Glasgow in 2018.

The 222-room Newcastle hotel will be located in the city centre and will combine a renovated building of 50 rooms with a new 172-room property.

The Manchester hotel will contain 301 rooms and will join Motel One Mancheter - Piccadilly, which opened earlier this year (see news, June 21).

Motel One Glasgow will feature 374 room, making it Scotland's largest hotel by number of guestrooms. It will be located next to Glasgow Central Station.

Stefan Lenze, Motel One's head of development said: "We are really looking forward to expanding our portfolio in the UK. By 2018, we will have seven hotels with about 1,900 rooms in the UK.

"Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester are key cities for us and we will provide great value and designer accommodation for affordable prices."

Motel One currently has four hotels in the UK - two in Edinburgh (see news, November 2012), one in London (see news, December 2014), and Manchester Piccadilly.
