Lufthansa will launch a nonstop route between Frankfurt and San Jose, California next year.
The five-times weekly A340-300 service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and is scheduled to start on April 29.
The move means Lufthansa will fly the first flights to Silicon Valley from a European airport, beating British Airways' previously announced London Heathrow-San Jose service by five days (see news, August 26).
Outbound flight LH488 will depart Frankfurt at 1040 and arrive in San Jose at 1340, with return leg leaving San Jose at 1520 and landing in Frankfurt at 1135 the next day.
