17 Sep 2015 by GrahamSmith

United Airlines will operate a nonstop Newcastle to New York Newark service next summer for a second year.

The carrier will again roster a B757-200 aircraft onto the route, which will run from May 26 until September 6 in 2016.

This summer, the service is operating five-times weekly (see news, October 2014). Next summer, it will fly six-times weekly, each day except on Wednesdays from Newcastle and Tuesdays from Newark.

Outbound service UA75 will depart Newcastle at 0910, and arrive at Newark at 1200. Return flight UA74 will take-off from Newark at 1920 and land in Newcastle at 0730 the next day.

United's B757-200 seats 169, with 16 seats in Business First and 153 in economy, including 45 Economy Plus seats.

Bob Schumacher, United's managing director of sales in the UK and Ireland, said: "As the first airline to offer a scheduled non-stop service to the US from north-east England, we are excited to return to Newcastle next year.

"Our flights offer business and leisure travellers not only convenient access to New York but connections to hundreds of other great destinations across the Americas."

Earlier this month, United announced it will add a B787-9 on to its daily London Heathrow-Los Angeles service next year (see news, September 2).
