United Airlines will once again offer a year-round service between Belfast and New York’s Newark airport, with the route operating three-times weekly between January and March 2016.
The US carrier had previously offered a year-round service on the route, before reducing it to seasonal last year.
The additional flights will operate between January 7 and March 10, 2016, departing Belfast International on Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 1110, arriving into Newark at 1400, before returning at 2145 and landing back into Northern Ireland at 0910 the following day.
Belfast International Airport Managing Director, Graham Keddie said that United’s decision was of “great significance to the Northern Ireland economy”, adding that “Our one and only direct, scheduled transatlantic service to Newark Liberty is a ‘lifeline’ for US-owned firms and adds massively to efforts by Invest NI to attract additional and highly prized US investment”.
