IHG to open new Holiday Inn Express in Adelaide

29 Apr 2015 by Clement Huang

Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a franchise agreement with Pro Invest Group to open a 245-room Holiday Inn Express property in Adelaide’s central business district (CBD).

As the capital city of South Australia, Adelaide is home to some 1.3 million residents. Prominent industry sectors include healthcare and retail. The city is also home to a large proportion of Australia’s defense industries, and contributes over A$1 billion to South Australia’s gross state product.

The new build hotel, to be opened in 2018, will be in close proximity of North Terrace, the Adelaide Convention Centre and the upcoming Royal Adelaide Hospital. In addition, the accessibility to major corporate offices within the CBD will be an attractive draw for business travellers.

“The site is exactly the right location for the Holiday Inn Express guest and hits our strategy of bringing the brand to key Australian cities,” said Karin Sheppard, chief operating officer, Australasia, Japan, Korea and Asia, Middle East and Africa Franchising, IHG.

“We know the domestic market will respond extremely well to this fresh and exciting brand and having a Holiday Inn Express in the CBD will be key as the increase in air connectivity between Adelaide and other key Asian cities continues”.

In keeping with the select-service brand offering, Holiday Inn Express Adelaide Hindley Street will offer guests a standard range of amenities including:

  • Free wifi in all guestrooms and hotel areas
  • Free express breakfast or a grab and go option
  • High quality bedding with a choice of firm or soft pillows
  • Self-service business centre and laundry room
  • Access to fitness centre

There are also two meeting rooms for small functions and events.
