Jet Airways launches new Abu Dhabi services

30 Mar 2015 by Clement Huang

India’s Jet Airways has launched daily international flights from Pune, Ahmedabad and Mangalore to Abu Dhabi.

Flights from Ahmedabad and Pune are particularly significant, as this represents the first ever-international routes out of these two Indian cities.

The new services aim to enhance air connectivity from India to destinations in the Gulf, where the carrier’s strategic partner Etihad Airways is based and where a large number of Indian expatriates are working.

Earlier today, Gulf carrier Qatar Airways also announced that it would be increasing capacity on its flights to Bengaluru starting this August.

Jet Airways will deploy the 178-seat B737-800 on the new services. The aircraft offers 12 seats in premier class and 156 in economy.

The Indian carrier, of which Etihad Airways holds a 24 per cent stake in, offers a large number of flights to Abu Dhabi, with daily services from Delhi, Kochi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Goa. It also flies to the Middle East city twice a day from Mumbai.
