Qatar Airways has taken delivery of its second A350 XWB, which it has deployed on its Doha - Frankfurt service.
This means the carrier is now operating twice daily flights on the popular Frankfurt route with the fuel efficient aircraft.
“We are thrilled to have taken delivery of our second A350 XWB less than two months after the historic delivery of our first aircraft,” said Qatar Airways group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.
“The A350 XWB has proven to be a wonderful aircraft, both technologically and from a passenger perspective, and we are confident, that this will continue as we introduce more and more A350 XWBs into our fleet”.
The aircraft is comprised of a two-class configuration with 36 seats in business (1-2-1) and 247 in economy (3-3-3). This represents an increase of 12 seats in business and 11 seats in economy over the A330-200 that used to serve the route.
The Gulf carrier was the launch customer of the new aircraft, and has a further 78 A350s on order. In total, the new aircraft model has amassed nearly 800 orders from 40 customers worldwide.
