Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened the second Element hotel in Canada.
The 169-room Element Vancouver Metrotown is part of the new Sovereign building, the tallest tower in the city's Burnaby business district.
It is located on the northeast corner of Kingsway and Willingdon Avenue within shopping, dining and entertainment complex Metropolis at Metrotown.
Each room comes with a fully-equipped kitchen and a spa-inspired bathroom, while each night's stay includes a complimentary "Rise" breakfast and "Relax" evening wine reception.
Facilities also include a restaurant, Trattoria, that is scheduled to open this week; complimentary bicycles to borrow; a 24-hour fitness centre; an indoor swimming pool; free wifi; and more than 560 sqm of meeting space.
Brian McGuinness, Starwood's senior vice president of specialty select brands, said: "On track to triple its portfolio by the end of 2017, Element is resonating with travellers who share the brand's passion for great design and smart, sustainable living."
Element Vancouver Metrotown is owned by Bosa Properties and managed by Atlific Hotels.
The new property joins Element Vaughan Southwest in the greater Toronto region and will be followed by the opening of two more Element hotels in Canada next year.
Starwood will open a dual-hotel development featuring Aloft and Element properties in London's Docklands in early 2017 (see news, June 2014).
