HRG launches online travel and expense software

25 Feb 2015 by Tom Otley

HRG today launched a new online travel and expense software.

Called Fraedom, the Software as a Service (SaaS) business will operate independently within Hogg Robinson Group, the name coming from research of business travellers that identified the freedom to book and manage their own travel as being a core need.

Unlike HRG's managed travel platforms, the launch of Fraedom sees the company targeting companies and individuals with straightforward travel requirements who want to access a large range of travel and accommodation options including travel offers, and who need some management information post-trip.

Travellers receive confirmation and itineraries by email and a simple approval process can be added where required. Post-trip, the traveller can quickly reconcile all their booked, non-booked and incidental expenses in the same system.

Booked travel is automatically shown and any extra trip-related costs can be added and managed in the same way, making it easy for employees. For a small fee, customers can also add in their own negotiated rates and travel and expense specialists are on hand to help with more complex bookings (at extra cost).

The software allows travel costs to be examined, including by trip, by type and by employee, as well as analysis on spending trends and top suppliers. Fraedom says this provides key management information, which is essential for effective cost control and accurate budgeting.

The technology has been developed by both HRG's technology division, and its wholly-owned subsidiary Spendvision.

David Radcliffe, chief executive of Hogg Robinson Group, said: "We recognise there is a gap in the broader corporate and unmanaged travel market for a simple to use integrated end-to-end solutions process.

"Fraedom will be aimed primarily at the non-managed and individual sector within the overall travel market, whilst HRG global travel management will continue to focus on the managed sector within the corporate travel space.

"Both companies operate completely independently of each other, although of course our clients will have the benefit of choosing which division best suits their needs."

Fraedom Travel & Expense will roll out in the UK from this month, with further regions to follow.
