British Airways (BA) has launched a sale that allows members of its Executive Club frequent flyer programme to receive 50 per cent extra Avios when they purchase the club currency online.
The offer is available immediately and runs until 11:59pm (GMT) on February 25. Interested members that wish to take advantage of the sale may visit this link to do so.
Taking into account that BA has imposed an annual purchase limit of 35,000 Avios, this effectively means that those taking advantage of the deal will receive an additional 17,500 Avios on top of the maximum currency allowed. That’s a total of 52,500 Avios for just US$988!
BA has dubbed the 50 per cent bonus as the best that it has ever offered. A minimum purchase of 2,000 Avios for US$80 is required in order to enjoy the bonus. When one calculates the cost per Avios (also taking into account the bonus), this equates to roughly 2.6 cents.
Meanwhile, by maxing out the deal (52,500 Avios for US$988), customers will be pleased to know that they will be purchasing each Avios for a much discounted 1.8 cents. True to BA’s words, this is indeed the lowest cost that the airline has ever sold its club currency for.
Given that BA will soon be restructuring its Executive Club programme that sees it increasing the amount of Avios required for Club World and First redemptions (see here), the offer represents an attractive option for those that wish to earn some last-minute club currency.
Furthermore, as Avios is credited immediately upon purchase, one can also take advantage of the deal to redeem for flights right now.
