Qatar Airways (QR) is expanding its South Africa operations with the launch of a new service to Durban, while simultaneously increasing its frequency to Johannesburg.
Cape Town
There is a lack of direct flights between Asia and South Africa, which means connections (e.g. through QR’s base in Doha) are often necessary and a popular means of commuting between the two regions.
Effective from December 17, the Gulf carrier will launch four new weekly flights to Durban via Johannesburg. The change means that QR will also be bumping its existing 10 weekly flights to Johannesburg to a double-daily service.
Johannesburg
Meanwhile, QR will also begin flying to Cape Town daily from October 1 – up from five times weekly. The launch date ensures that the airline takes full advantage of the busy winter travel season.
All three aforementioned routes will be operated by the B787 Dreamliner. Featuring a two-class configuration, the aircraft offers 22 fully flat seats in business class and 232 in economy.
