Fairmont Wuhan to open in 2017

1 Feb 2015 by Tamsin Cocks

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open a new hotel in Wuhan’s central business district (CBD) in 2017.

The capital of Hubei Province is an important economic centre and a major transport hub, served by multiple high speed rail links, metro lines and Wuhan Tianhe Interntional Airport.

According to Jennifer Fox, president FRHI International and Fairmont Brand, these are ideal conditions for an expanding hotel chain:

“We're pleased to be introducing the Fairmont brand to another important domestic market in China.

"Wuhan's position as a base for industry, as well as being the financial, educational and transportation hub of Central China, makes it an ideal location to develop a luxury hotel. We look forward to being a key part of the city's continued growth."

Fairmont Wuhan will feature 350 guestrooms, four dining outlets and 2,500 sqm of event space. Leisure facilities will include the company’s signature spa brand Willow Stream Spa and a swimming pool.

Located in the downtown CBD area, the hotel will offer convenient access to commercial facilities and office blocks. There are also multiple entertainment, dining and shopping options nearby. With a 3,500 year history, Wuhan also has some interesting cultural attractions to offer.
