New Chinese airline 9 Air takes off

17 Jan 2015

New low-cost-carrier (LCC), 9 Air initiated operations on January 15, flying from Guangzhou to Harbin via Wenzhou.

The Guangzhou-based carrier is a subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines, an airline based in Shanghai.

The new LCC is serving the Guangzhou-Wenzhou-Harbin route daily, using a 189-seat B737-800.

The service departs Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 0655, arriving in Wenzhou at 0855, before taking off again at 0945 and landing in Harbin at 1300. The return leg leaves the Ice City at 1910, touching down in Wenzhou at 2155, taking off again at 2255 and landing finally at 0100 in Guangzhou.

Current ticket prices for the service start from RMB1,759 (US$283), however passengers should look out for special promotions in the future that reflect the airline's “9 Air” moniker, with tickets costing RMB9, RMB99, RMB199 and RMB299.

The airline has 50 B737-800s and B737-MAXs on order, all due to be delivered by 2020. The airline plans to expand its network to south, southeast and northeast Asia.

Business Traveller Asia-Pacific did attempt to contact the airline for more information, however no one answered the phone and we could not find an email address.
