Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Golden Land Real Estate in China to develop a new hotel in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.
“Fairmont Suzhou marks another key milestone for the Fairmont brand as we continue a steady and strategic pace of expansion into key Chinese markets,” said Jennifer Fox, president, FRHI international and president, Fairmont brand.
“Not only is Suzhou one of the country's most popular travel destinations on a domestic level, it shows continued strong growth internationally and is increasingly attracting foreign investment”.
The hotel, due to open in 2018, will be part of a mixed-use development that will also include office space, a retail podium, several office towers, plus commercial and entertainment facilities.
More significantly, Fairmont Suzhou will be located in Shishan, the core of Suzhou’s National New Hi-Tech Development Zone. Specifically designed as an industrial zone for the development of high-tech industries, the district is home to several Fortune 500 companies including Logitech, Cannon and Motorola.
Little has been revealed of the new hotel so far, although Fairmont has stated that it will feature 390 guestrooms and five dining outlets. The new development will also house over 4,000sqm of banquet and event spaces, while leisure facilities will include a swimming pool and Willow Steam Spa – the company’s own branded spa product.
