EAST Aquathon 16.3 to kick off in October

23 Jul 2014 by Clement Huang

The EAST Aquathon 16.3 will be run for the first time on October 18.

Organised by Revolution Asia, the new Hong Kong-based competition will see athletes take part in open-water swimming (1.5km), trail running in the mountains (7.5km) and road running (7.3km). In total, competitors will have to tackle a distance of 16.3km and an elevation of 900m.

The race starts at Chung Hom Kok beach, takes in the twin peaks and Tai Tam reservoir, and finishes at Taikoo Place.

Participants can either compete by themselves or in teams of two. Spaces for the inaugural event are limited to 500 competitors.

The aim of the aquathon is to raise money and awareness for the Sedan Chair Charities Fund, which supports little-known grass-roots charities in Hong Kong. Title sponsor, East, is looking to raise at least HK$200,000 (US$25,800) for the charity.

Business Traveller Asia-Pacific is proud to sponsor the EAST Aquathon 16.3, and will be supporting group editor Reggie Ho and Mix senior reporter Marisa Cannon as they compete in the race.
