Etihad Airways launches daily service to Perth

17 Jul 2014 by Clement Huang

Etihad Airways has launched a daily, non-stop service between its base in Abu Dhabi and Perth, Australia.

Flight EY486 departs Abu Dhabi daily at 2210 and arrives in Perth at 1310 the following day. The return service sees flight EY487 leave Perth at 1555 before touching back down in Abu Dhabi at 2325 the same day.

Flights are operated by the Airbus A330-200, which features a two-class configuration with 22 seats in business and 240 in economy.

The capital of Western Australia is the Gulf carrier’s fourth gateway into the country. In addition to the current daily services to Brisbane and Melbourne, plus twice-daily flights to Sydney, the new service increases the total number of weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Australia to 35.

Thanks to a strong partnership with Virgin Australia, the new route also allows Etihad to offer passengers good connectivity to towns and cities beyond the Perth metropolitan area.

“Our partnership with Virgin Australia enables us to offer codeshare flights from Perth to 13 regional airports throughout the state of Western Australia,” said Etihad’s president and chief executive James Hogan.

The regional stops include: Albany, Broome, Busselton, Derby, Esperance, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Kununurra, Karratha, Paraburdoo, Port Hedland, Ravensthorpe and Newman.
