Firefly to launch flights from Penang to Krabi

Firefly will begin operating a three times weekly service between Penang, Malaysia and Krabi, Thailand from September 16.

Flight FY3490 will depart Penang at 0835 and arrive in Krabi at 0845. Meanwhile, the return flight sees FY3491 leave Krabi at 0935 and arrive back in Penang at 1145.

Firefly’s chief executive Ignatius Ong enthuses, “Firefly is excited to expand its network by introducing Krabi as its latest destination. A new destination is certainly an encouraging indication of an airline’s growth, and that seems to be the exact path Firefly is at.”

Penang International Airport is the main hub for the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia and it offers connections to major cities in Southeast Asia. The Thai province of Krabi has in recent years risen up to become a popular holiday destination with its national parks, serene beaches and diving sites. Previously, travellers had to fly to it via Bangkok, Koh Samui, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Penang has become another option.
