Finnair reveals details on upcoming Premium Lounge

9 May 2014 by ReggieHo

New details have emerged about Finnair's upcoming Premium Lounge, located right next to the current Finnair Lounge near Gate 36 in the non-Schengen area of Helsinki Airport. As previously reported (click here), the new facility is designed by Finnish firm dSign Vertti Kivi & Co. It was originally scheduled to open in spring this year, but the new opening date has now been adjusted to July 1. The new lounge will welcome those with Finnair Plus platinum or gold status, other Oneworld top-tier members, and their guests. But it will not be open to business class passengers, who will continue to be given access to the original lounge.

The interior of the new lounge, with 407 sqm of space for up to 122 seated guests, will be based on Nordic design, with dynamic and seasonal changes in light, colours and video projections. Food offerings are to be plated on Marimekko tableware while drinks are served in Iittala Ultima Thule glasses – first designed for Finnair in 1968 by Tapio Wirkkala. For your seating comfort, there will be iconic Tulip and Womb chairs by Eero Saarinen.

Other than new areas for work and relaxation, completely new private shower suites as well as a Finnish sauna will also be on offer, complete with towels and forest berry-based shampoos, shower gels and lotions from Finland.
