Bloomberg lands at London City airport

8 May 2014

A media hub provided by financial information specialist Bloomberg has opened at London City airport.

Passengers will be greeted by a media panel comprising six 55-inch digital screens displaying latest financial and world news with ticker-style market and share price information before they go through security and as they reach the departure lounge.

World weather in the airport's destinations is also displayed on the 130 metre screens.

A section of the departure lounge is now given over to the Bloomberg Hub, seating more than 180, with work, relaxation and networking zones. It faces the media wall, described as a "digital canvas" with travel information, market-moving news and analysis and other relevant data. Use of the facilities is free to all passengers.

Hub features include:

  • Four Bloomberg terminals for use of subscribers to the Bloomberg Professional service
  • Bloomberg Analytics’ help desk staffed during peak hours
  • Bloomberg Television with optional audio plug-in units
  • 110V universal charging stations compatible with UK, European and American electronic devices
  • Free wifi
  • Furniture with luggage stowage and privacy screens
  • Free shoe-shine and steam press service
  • Complimentary copies of Bloomberg’s business, finance and lifestyle magazines.

Matthew Hall, the airport's chief commercial officer, said: "The arrival of the Bloomberg Hub in the LCY departure lounge furnishes our passengers with a new level of service – that of up-to-the-minute data and information – which reflects the moves we’re making towards managing the passenger journey through the use of technology.

"The agreement we have with Bloomberg reflects a burgeoning strategy of working with high-profile, global brands to deliver relevant content and added value to passengers as part of the airport experience."
