Malindo Air to launch KL-Bangkok service

14 Feb 2014 by Clement Huang

Malindo Air will be launching a new daily service between its base Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok, from April 24.

The "hybrid" airline is a joint venture between National Aerospace and Defence Industries of Malaysia and Lion Air of Indonesia. Malindo Air’s current service between Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok is operated by Thai Lion Air, a Lion Air subsidiary.

Malindo Air flight OD522 will depart Kuala Lumpur daily at 1240 and arrive in Bangkok at 1350. The return leg sees flight OD523 leave Don Mueang at 1430, before touching back down in KLIA at 1740.

The airline will be serving the route using its 180-seat B737-900ER aircraft that sports a two-class configuration. In-flight entertainment, check-in luggage allowance, and meals are offered in both business and economy, while the low-cost pricing structure is still maintained, thus positioning Malindo Air as a hybrid carrier.

To celebrate the launch of the new service, Malindo Air is offering special promotional fares starting from RM159 (US$48) for an all-inclusive one-way ticket on economy class, and RM899 (US$271) similarly for business class. Tickets are open for sale, and the valid travel period is until May 27.
