The Design Hotels brand has kicked off the New Year by adding nine new independent member hotels to its portfolio. The properties epitomise the ethos and values of Design Hotels, and bring together a blend of smart architecture with unique design themes.
The new additions are located across three continents, with one in Asia. Grace Beijing, China – one of the nine new hotels under the brand – is housed within a former crystal factory and opened in 2012.
Lobby
Featuring a 1950’s Bauhaus style, the building’s design is also inspired by Hong Kong’s colonial architecture, exemplified by its high ceilings and arching doorways.
Grace Beijing is located in the Chinese capital’s 798 Art District, which serves as a thriving centre for culture – art, fashion and architecture. Each of the 30 guestrooms and suites has its own modern design, bolstered by traditional aesthetics. The interiors embody a modern take on Ming Dynasty décor, evident from the use of bold colours and striking furniture.
Deluxe suite
The property also offers two dining options, with Mediterranean restaurant Yi House proving to be a popular destination for local and international artists and designers, as well as the hotel’s Bar 798.
The other eight new members of Design Hotels include Miss Clara (Sweden), 25 Hours Hotel Bikini Berlin (Germany), Piet Boon Bonaire (Bonaire, Caribbean), The Royal Snail (Belgium), SKT. PETRI (Denmark), Anemi Hotel (Greece), Zash Country Boutique Hotel (Italy), and Rooms Hotel Kazbegi (Georgia).
