IHG to open long-stay property in Jakarta

6 Dec 2013

Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Indonesian property developer PT Duta Anggada Realty Tbk will together establish Holiday Inn & Suites Jakarta Gajah Mada long-stay property in the country's capital.

The 447-unit hotel will be located in North Jakarta, in Jalan Gajah Mada, and will feature both rooms and serviced apartments. It will be opposite the LTC Glodok Mall and is slated to open in 2015.

IHG currently has over 20 properties set to open in Indonesia in the next few years, including six Holiday Inns and 10 Holiday Inn Express hotels. Of any of IHG's target markets, Indonesia has the largest pipeline of properties in the works, and is central to a wider strategy to target the Asian market (see here). The capital, in particular, is booming (see here for Business Traveller Asia-Pacific's Jakarta feature) with Langham Hospitality Group having recently signed a property there as well (see here).

“Indonesia has seen very strong economic progress and industry trends have really fuelled the demand for our Holiday Inn brand. The Holiday Inn & Suites Jakarta Gajah Mada will be our first property in Indonesia to answer the increasing demand for travel in Jakarta, especially those who now need to stay for longer each time they visit,” said Clarence Tan, IHG’s chief operating officer, South East Asia & Resorts.
