Finnair will open a new Premium Lounge at Helsinki Airport in the spring, it has been announced.
The airline has already started work on the facility, which is next to and will "compliment" the current Finnair Lounge near Gate 36 in the non-Schengen area of the airport.
The Premium Lounge will be available to Finnair Plus Platinum and Gold members and their guests only, as well as frequent flyer cardholders with equivalent status at a fellow Oneworld airline.
However, all passengers will be able to use its new private shower suites and a Finnish sauna.
The airline has also announced that there will also be a Finnair tax-free shop opening next to the lounges, serving all non-Schengen passengers.
Markku Remes, Finnair’s manager of lounge and VIP services, said: "We are eagerly looking forward to opening a new lounge for our most frequent and loyal customers to keep up with burgeoning demand for our world-class lounge facilities.
"The expanded lounge environment will offer passengers calm, refreshment and relaxation while also showcasing Finland as an international hub of art and design surrounded by the freshness of nature."
In July, Finnair revealed it is aiming to double its revenue from traffic on its Europe to Asia route in the next seven years (see news, July 10).
