Banyan Tree opens Chongqing spa resort

5 Sep 2013 by Clement Huang

Banyan Tree has opened the spa venue in its recently debuted Banyan Tree Spa Chongqing Beibei property. This represents the second phase in the resort’s ongoing opening, which began on July 26. It is the first international brand hot spring resort in Chongqing, and Banyan Trees first venture into southwestern China.

Chongqing is the third-most populated city in China, and one of the country's major manufacturing and transportation hubs (see our Inside China report on the city here). The property is located 40 minutes from the city centre in the area of Beibei, overlooking the Jin Yun Mountain and Jialing River.

Featuring 107 suites and villas with private hot spring pools, Banyan Tree Chongqing Beibei blends traditional Minguo-era design with contemporary interiors, allowing guests to experience a combination of nature, local culture and history.

The resort also offers five culinary venues, which serve a mix of contemporary Chinese delicacies to international favourites. There is also a swimming pool with an attached bar serving fruit juices, designer cocktails, and snacks. Other facilities include a gym, yoga room and a Banyan Tree gallery that sells handicrafts, resort apparel, and spa amenities.

The spa, meanwhile, offers nine hot spring pools with different themes, located both indoors and outdoors. There is an extensive list of treatments available, including the signature Yin Yang Rainmist experience (RMB1,900/US$310).
