HRS improves online offering for Chinese travellers

23 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang

Online booking portal HRS (Hotel Reservation Service) has implemented key changes to its website, so as to better service Chinese visitors travelling to Europe.

China represents an important foreign market for HRS and the company has a presence in the country since 2002, allowing it to better develop its understanding of Chinese travellers.

Results from research carried out by HRS have shown that there are a number of requirements which Chinese guests look for when booking a hotel. These include accepting payment via China UnionPay, rooms with adaptors for Chinese electrical appliances, and having on-site information in Chinese.

HRS is therefore introducing a “China Friendly Hotel” seal to their online offerings. Hotels that meet a particular set of criteria, including those mentioned above, will be awarded the China Friendly Hotel seal.

Certified hotels are displayed prominently on HRS’s China website, which would allow them to attract more interest, and thereby increase booking potential.

"The seal enables [European hotels] to specifically target Chinese travellers, thereby generating more interest. We know that many Chinese travellers only have a limited amount of time available for their trip to Europe, and they want to get the most out of this. The seal therefore provides a quick and easy guide for them," commented HRS CEO Tobias Ragge.
