Qatar Airways to fly triple daily to Cairo

24 Jun 2013 by GrahamSmith

Qatar Airways is upping the flight frequency on its Cairo route to triple daily.

The Doha-based carrier is introducing five flights to its current 16 services a week, taking frequency up to three flights each day from July 1.

The airline will be operating a mix of narrow-body Airbus A320s, wide-body Airbus A330s and its flagship Boeing 777 aircraft on flights to and from Cairo. The jets follow a two-class seat configuration offering seats in first class and economy.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, said: "For the second time this year, we've increased capacity between Cairo and Doha due to over whelming demand demonstrating the resurgence in tourism, as well as business travel to and from the Egyptian capital.

"In the space of just three months, Qatar Airways has increased frequency on the route by 24 per cent, soon operating three daily flights each morning, afternoon and evening, and with better connectivity to an array of destinations including Beijing, Bangkok, Dubai, Manila, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo and cities across the Gulf."

The airline has been flying to Cairo since 1994.

Last week, it was announced that Qatar Airways has placed a $2.8 billion order for nine Boeing 777-300ERs (see online news, June 17).
