Frasers and Ascott introduce free internet access

17 Apr 2013

Serviced apartments operators Frasers Hospitality and Ascott have both decided to introduce free internet access across all of their properties.

Frasers' new policy was announced by the company's chief executive officer Choe Peng Sum. He said: “The comfort and convenience of our residents is at the heart of everything we do. Knowing how being connected online is so critical to their daily lives, making complimentary high-speed internet access available as one of the value-add amenities of our gold standard service was therefore important, to complete their whole experience of staying with us.”

Frasers currently has 77 properties either open or in the pipeline across 41 cities. Asian properties can be found in Singapore, Shanghai and Guangzhou, among others.

Ascott also announced plans to offer guests free internet access at more than 100 properties under the Ascott, Citadines and Somerset brands.

The group added that wifi internet is now available in “most apartments”, and will be rolled out to all apartments by the end of this year.

Ascott’s chief commercial officer Tony Soh said: “Connectivity is vital for our guests. Many of them carry at least one mobile device and use wifi, and this trend has been increasing every year. Providing free internet and wifi will enable them to stay connected at all times.

“We will be progressively boosting bandwidth to meet the increasing data demand by our guests. This is part of Ascott’s continuous pursuit of product and service excellence to enhance customer experience.”

Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) also recently announced plans to offer free internet access to all loyalty scheme members from next year.
