25 Jan 2013 by BusinessTraveller

Bmi Regional has announced three new routes from Birmingham airport to Gothenburg, Lyon and Toulouse.

The newly-independent carrier will operate six flights per week on each route, starting on May 13.

There are currently no direct, non-stop flights from Birmingham to Gothenburg, Lyon or Toulouse, although Flybe has also announced it will fly between Birmingham and Lyon from May 1 (click here for more details). Monarch Airlines and Easyjet both fly from Birmingham to Grenoble-Isere airport, located around 75 km from Lyon.

The new routes will go on sale on Tuesday February 5.

Bmi Regional launched as an independent carrier at the end of October 2012 (see online news October 29, 2012).

The carrier currently serves routes including Manchester to Edinburgh, Glasgow to Copenhagen, East Midlands to Brussels and Norwich to Aberdeen, and recently announced new routes from Bristol to Hamburg and Frankfurt (see online news January 2).
