Eastern Airways to increase Newcastle-Aberdeen service

7 Sep 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Eastern Airways is to add an extra daily weekday service between Newcastle and Aberdeen from October 1.

The new flights will depart Newcastle at 0830 Monday to Wednesday, and 1700 and 1910 Wednesday to Friday, meaning the carrier will offer at least five daily flights between Newcastle and Aberdeen on weekdays.

Travelling southbound there will be extra flights leaving Aberdeen at 1745 Monday to Friday, and 1545 and 1645 on Thursday, which the carrier says is “traditionally one of the busiest days for southbound flights to Newcastle”.

The carrier says it will also operate 50-seat Embraer 145 jets on peak flights, replacing smaller 29-seat BAE Jetstream 41 aircraft.

The new services will be available for booking from Monday September 10.

The news follows Flybe’s announcement that it is to drop services between Gatwick and Aberdeen from October 28 (see online news September 7).
